TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential hopeful Ko Wen-je's campaign manager Vivian Huang rejected the proposal by Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih on Wednesday (Nov. 22) to reconsider polling results.

During a morning press conference, Huang expressed that reevaluating the same data would not yield different outcomes, stating, "If we recalculate now, it is like starting all over, and it is unclear what we were doing last week, or how it helps collaboration between both sides."

She emphasized the importance of integrity and the unification of all possible strengths moving forward, rather than restarting the evaluation process which would undermine the extensive five-hour expert meeting conducted last Friday to review the polls.

Huang asserted that the primary objective remains to present the strongest presidential candidate, not to engage in mutual sabotage, and suggested convincing their supporters of a fair race is more imperative than focusing solely on the end result.

At an appearance Tuesday night, Ko questioned the rationale behind redoing the poll evaluations, expressing confusion over the KMT's approach, saying: "If it is necessary, how could reading the results a couple more times make them change? Was the past counting not correct, and now suddenly it will be? That is quite odd."

The proposal came as Hou suggested that both parties appoint two polling experts, with KMT chairman Eric Chu and former President Ma Ying-jeou each designating one, to debate and reassess the nine previously discussed polls with the process being broadcasted live.

"If I lose, I will take the vice position," Hou declared on Tuesday, indicating his readiness for compromise.
