Kaohsiung man carrying husky in capsule backpack faces fine (Courtesy of Dcard)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A man from Kaohsiung is facing fines for carrying his husky in a capsule backpack, insisting it was the young dog's wish to accompany him.
The incident, captured and shared on Dcard, a Taiwanese online forum, on Friday (Nov. 15), sparked heated discussions and drew the ire of online users, who vowed to report it to the local animal protection office.
The Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office, according to reports, quickly identified the pet owner through his license plate number. An investigation found the husky to be a 2 to 3-year-old puppy, which is in good health.
The owner's actions violate the Animal Protection Act, and he could be fined between NT$15,000 to NT$75,000, officials said.
The protection office urged residents to be considerate while taking pets to public places. It emphasized the need for protection for these animals, advising owners that carriers should be adequately ventilated with enough room for pets to move freely and that animals should be accompanied by a person over the age of seven.
