TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's semiconductor industry output is forecasted to reach approximately NT$4.3 trillion in 2023, reflecting an 11.2% decrease year-on-year. This figure is slightly better than the 12.7% decrease projected in August, according to a revised forecast by the Industrial Technology Investment Corporation (ITRI) of Taiwan.
The ITRI's Industry, Science, and Technology International Strategy Center has revised its predictions for the wafer foundry sector. The output value for 2023 is now expected to be NT$2.46 trillion, exceeding the August forecast of NT$2.38 trillion but still representing an 8.2% decrease compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, the combined output value of the semiconductor manufacturing industry, including both wafer foundry and DRAM sectors, is estimated to be NT$2.64 trillion, marking a 9.6% decrease year-on-year.
Notably, with the continued growth of operations at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the overall output of Taiwan's semiconductor manufacturing is projected to increase by 8.1% in the fourth quarter.
