Ko Wen-je, Terry Gou’s dinner fuels alliance speculations (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je was spotted having a private dinner with independent presidential hopeful Terry Gou at the latter's residence Wednesday (Nov. 8), fuelling speculation about a potential political alliance.
Despite the hour-long meeting, Ko ruled out a so-called "Ko-Gou pairing" but did not dismiss the possibility of a "Gou-Ko alliance."
Chen Chih-han, Ko's campaign office spokesperson, confirmed the meeting but refused to disclose any specifics, citing confidentiality reasons.
Ko had previously stated on a talk with Bit King's YouTube channel that he is open to collaborating with Gou if it benefits Taiwan and publicly announced his intent to meet with Gou again.
Speaking of the meeting, Gou's campaign office spokesperson, Chen Chia-yi, said the Foxconn founder and Ko share a harmonious relationship. Chen confirmed many common points in their beliefs and arguments, expressing their mutual commitment toward the power rotation in the 2024 election. This further ignited the interest of political observers.
While the meeting details remain confidential, both parties pledged their commitment to Taiwan's future, seemingly laying the groundwork for future collaborations that could shake up Taiwan's political scene ahead of the elections.
