MOEA ensures sufficient land for semiconductor industry (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) on Thursday (Nov. 9) stressed Taiwan has sufficient land for the semiconductor industry, amid concerns over the nation's five industrial shortages: land, water, energy, labor, and talent.
The MOEA's comments came after media reports on Wednesday stating that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TSMC) abandoned its Longtan plant as part of the third phase expansion project, which reflects potential issues Taiwan's semiconductor industry faces.
Whether it's land in science parks or industrial parks, the ministry stated that its Bureau of Industrial Parks and the National Science and Technology Council are in the process of land allocation and future expansion plans.
The ministry emphasized that the government aims to satisfy all land requirements for industry expansion or construction of new factories, and continue providing complete services to manufacturing industry businesses.
Bearing goals to maintain Taiwan's dominant role in global semiconductor manufacturing, the MOEA reiterated its commitment to assisting semiconductor companies to keep their roots in Taiwan.
