TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Security Bureau (NSB) Director-General Tsai Ming-yen confirmed on Monday (Nov. 6)  that the NSC is actively tracking illicit financial flows from a couple of polling companies in Taiwan suspected of having strong ties with China.

As the 2024 general elections are approaching, legislators participating in an inquiry at the Foreign and National Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan expressed their concerns about the possibility of Chinese intervention.

There are accusations that China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) is attempting to influence the election results by using various methods, including inviting Taiwanese commentators and polling officials to China.

According to reports, generative AI technologies are used to spread false information through viral video clips across China, potentially affecting the outcome of the elections.

In response to public concerns, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislators Lo Chih-cheng and Liu Shyh-fang have urged the government to take offensive counter-espionage measures to combat opposing forces.

The NSB has emphasized that it is actively tracing the origins of these financial flows while closely monitoring the situation. Furthermore, the NSB has warned the public that legal action will be taken if any manipulative activity or election fraud is detected.
