Ko Wen-je and Terry Gou lunch meeting without Hou Yu-ih (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) chairman Ko Wen-je confirmed on Thursday (Nov. 2) that his lunch with Terry Gou involved talks on the depreciation of the Japanese Yen and how the New Taiwan dollar should respond.
Following an event at the Hulu Temple, Ko and Gou had lunch together without inviting Kuomintang's (KMT) Hou Yu-ih, who had yet to gain successful meeting outcomes with Ko on the KMT-TPP alliance.
Ko emphasized that this was merely a financial topic he would inquire about when he has spare time to meet Gou, not a discussion about exchanging positions.
Ko shared the details of his meeting with Gou after a press conference at his campaign headquarters. He said that Gou spoke about the depreciation of the Japanese Yen, which prompted him to ask about the response of the New Taiwan dollar over lunch. He underlined that frequent dialogues often turn acquaintances into friends.
