Taiwan ramps up defenses against Chinese infiltration (Shutterstock)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense (MND) outlined on Monday (Oct. 30) four potential methods of infiltration by China that pose a growing threat to Taiwan. These include "compatriot's affection," "familial love," "organized crime," and "online communication," according to a report discussed at the Legislative Yuan.
In response to the growing national security threat, the Republic of China Army (ROCA) has reportedly implemented comprehensive measures to counter these infiltration tactics.
To ensure the safety and security of military computer networks, domain safety checks have been deployed, followed by a careful examination of file transfer procedures and penalties involved.
The Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) has also noted that China's state security agency is actively penetrating Taiwan's defenses through a stream of espionage activities to acquire classified information relating to establishing underground organizations within Taiwan.
To combat this, the MJIB plans to strengthen its reconnaissance-based technologies, including the agile use of computing in evidence collection, to ensure high levels of effectiveness when conducting case investigations.
