TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Eric Chu confirmed on Sunday (Oct. 29) that he will meet with Taipei People's Party (TPP) Chairman Ko Wen-je on Monday to discuss policies and the legislative elections.
Chu also indicated that he might discuss the method to select the presidential and vice-presidential candidates with Ko and KMT hopeful Hou Yu-ih .
Speaking to reporters, Chu acknowledged the public's impatience and anger over the seeming lack of cooperation between the KMT and TPP are visible. 'We apologize and promise to continue working harder,' Chu said.
Chu called for unity between the two parties, emphasizing cross-strait peace and the revival of fairness and justice to overthrow the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
TPP spokesman Adam Lee stated that the meeting will focus on boosting the number of legislative seats and how to cooperate across different party lines and policy issues after the election.
The meeting will also discuss how the opposition alliance can select the strongest presidential candidate, according to Lee.
