TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan announced on Tuesday (Oct. 24) an audit of land usage for high-tech companies in Taiwan.

This decision came after Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced its decision to halt the construction of phase three at the Longtan Science Park for its 1.4-nanometer plant.

During the "Taoyuan Airport Forum 2023 —Smart Airports and Sustainable Development," Cheng was asked about the possibility of inviting departments, including the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the National Science and Technology Council, for cross-ministerial discussions on advanced process land use for TSMC.

Cheng reassured the media that the government is committed to auditing and will provide options for all high-tech companies, including TSMC.

Cheng explained that the government will promptly determine plans for water and electricity usage and the development of external roads. The government is also drafting long-term development plans for TSMC, other semiconductor industries, and high-tech manufacturers, serving as a resource to plan for their future.
