TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As severe clashes erupt in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly in the Gaza Strip, a Taiwanese doctor is ready to provide direct aid on the frontlines.

Since July, Dr. Hung Shang-kai, a Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital emergency physician, has been stationed in Gaza.

Hung's frontline mission marks his first journey as a member of Doctors Without Borders.

Due to frequent conflicts and a shortage of medical resources in the local area, he hopes to improve the local emergency triage system to help more injured patients.

Before the conflict, approximately 2.2 to 2.3 million people populated the Gaza Strip.

Due to overdevelopment and saltwater intrusion along the coast, clean water has always been scarce. Additionally, each household has, on average, only 13 hours of electricity daily.

As the conflict intensifies, frequent power outages have resulted in medical supply shortages, preventing specialized treatment. In response, various organizations are extending their help to locals to assist during these turbulent times.
