TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The self-help organization formed by victims of the Dazhi building collapse presented three demands on Friday (Oct. 13): to return to their homes within five years, to have the same land area as their previous property plus parking space, and to select their own construction company.

The organization also expressed support for public urban renewal. Hung I-chan, president of the Dazhi Self-Help Organization (大直塌陷案自救會), stated: "We believe that public renewal is a better option, but we ask the city government to first agree to the proposed demands."

After the Dazhi building collapsed in September, the Taipei City Government and the Taipei City Council intervened without meeting residents' demands, leaving unresolved conflicts over reconstruction plans.

Hung pointed out that 21 affected households hope to co-construct with Kee Tai Properties to shorten the reconstruction time.

Meanwhile, dissenting homeowners favor publicly-managed urban renewal and demand a compensation of NT$1.5 million per household from Kee Tai Properties.
