Premier Chen denies violation of procurement laws (TVBS NEWS)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen on Friday (Oct. 13) dismissed allegations that the imported frozen egg liquid violates procurement laws as false and erroneous and defended the regular scheduling of the Executive Yuan Food Safety Meeting.
Chen stressed that the meetings are held every three months as mandated by law, and two meetings have been convened during his tenure, with the latest one scheduled to be in October.
The Premier stated that the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and Public Construction Commission (PCC) have clarified their stance on the issue of imported frozen liquid eggs, affirming adherence to the law.
Before attending an interpellation session at the Legislative Yuan earlier that day, Chen further pledged the government would perfect the import of eggs.
Premier Chen's remarks came after the Kuomintang (KMT) legislator Wu I-ding's previous allegation that the National Animal Industry Foundation (NAIF) has imported frozen egg liquid five times without public bidding from 2021 to date.
As Wu revealed on Wednesday, the NAIF allegedly violated the Government Procurement Act.
