KMT, TPP to hold first meeting on possible collaboration (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) will hold their first meeting on Saturday (Oct. 14) at the Taipei Howard Plaza Hotel to discuss a potential party alliance for the 2024 presidential election.
Representatives from both parties conducted a site survey on Friday to ensure the first round of talks between the KMT and TPP runs smoothly and successfully.
TPP's presidential candidate Ko Wen-je advocates for a direct discussion and debate format with polling mechanisms in the upcoming meeting.
Chen Chih-han, spokeswoman for Ko's campaign office, stated, "We hope to base our negotiations on public debate, openness, transparency, and fair polling."
Meanwhile, KMT presidential nominee Hou Yu-ih called for "having a meeting without any presumptions," saying, "We should unite to take down the corrupt and inept Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)."
