DPP braces for stronger competition amid TPP, KMT talks (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — With Taiwan's presidential election less than 100 days away, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Friday (Oct. 13) stated that the party's presidential hopeful Lai Ching-te will continue to adjust campaign strategies to ensure preparedness.

The remark came on the eve of a meeting between opposition parties, the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) and the Kuomintang (KMT), scheduled for Saturday, in which DPP Legislator Chuang Jui-hsiung admitted that any cooperative prospects seem unlikely.

Chuang said Lai's campaign strategy has always been engineered for a "one-on-one" contention with strong candidates, regardless of the number of parties involved.

Given that the TPP's Ko Wen-je previously declared that he "hates nothing more than mosquitoes, cockroaches, and the KMT," Chuang is doubtful about the possibility of KMT-TPP collaboration.

In related news, Lai reportedly urged his campaign staff to stay vigilant of political developments and be even more prepared moving forward.
