Presidential Office investigating bomb threat: spokesperson

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Presidential Office received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday (Sept. 26), according to its spokesperson, Lin Yu-chan, who reported that the disturbing email was received at 8:39 a.m.

The sender had purportedly used the president's name to sign the correspondence and a seemingly random account, bay***kimo@gmai.com, to send it. The return address provided in the email intriguingly linked back to the Taoyuan Police Department.

After receiving the email, the Presidential Office reported the matter to the police and its internal information unit is compiling digital evidence to assist with the ongoing investigation. Authorities are working diligently to trace the origin of the threatening electronic mail.

There are no further details currently available. The development has, however, raised security concerns at the Presidential Office.
