Presidential poll suggests Gou’s candidacy may impact race (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A recent presidential race opinion poll conducted by ETtoday indicates that a confirmed candidacy of Foxconn founder Terry Gou could alter the competition between Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te, Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih, and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je.
The poll shows that in a four-way election, Lai leads with a support rate of 35.3%. Hou follows him at 21.4%, Ko at 17.6%, and Gou ranks last at 17.2%.
However, if Gou didn't enter the race, the poll suggests that Lai Ching-te's support would increase to 37.6%, whereas Ko Wen-je and Hou Yu-ih would tie with a close margin, receiving 24.3% and 24.2%, respectively.
