TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (TMRT) train cars were vandalized with extensive graffiti in the late evening of Thursday (Aug. 24) by two unidentified individuals who breached security and trespassed into the area.

The illicit act occurred in the Wuri District at the tail-end of the track area of the MRT Taichung HSR Station.

Upon discovering the graffiti, TMRT officials reviewed CCTV footage and spotted two suspicious figures damaging the fencing and entering the premises.

The duo appeared to stay for a mere 15 minutes. TMRT personnel immediately reported the incident to the police, and a subsequent inspection of the vandalized train confirmed no structural damage, much to the officials' relief.
Steps to heighten surveillance procedures at the tail track area are on TMRT's agenda.

Unauthorized entry onto the track area violates The Mass Rapid Transit Act and may incur penalties ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$1,000,000.

Instances such as trespassing and damaging fences can lead to charges like property destruction and invasion. The damaged fence and graffitied train are scheduled for repairs today (Aug. 25).

TMRT is collaborating with the police on this case while reinforcing penalties for the perpetrators.

It has warned the public that the track areas run high-voltage electricity and that unauthorized entry is illegal and could jeopardize personal safety and the transit system's security.

They urged the public to adhere to regulations.
