TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) legislator Tseng Ming-tsung raised concerns on Tuesday (July 18) about potential power shortages and electricity price adjustments in the second half of this year, to which Premier Chen Chien-jen responded "no power shortages" and estimated that electricity prices "would not increase."

During a special briefing at the Legislative Yuan this morning, Premier Chen responded with a firm guarantee, stressing, "There will be no power shortages, that's for sure." However, he refrained from answering Tsen's question about what would happen if there was a power shortage.

Tseng then turned his attention to the possibility of electricity price adjustments in the coming months. Premier Chen explained that such adjustments would depend on international and domestic fuel situations, but estimated that prices would not increase.

Tseng voiced skepticism, suggesting that the government might refrain from making adjustments before an election and implement them afterward. Premier Chen emphasized that all electricity price adjustments followed established procedures.
