TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As the younger members of Gen Z enter the workforce, they encounter numerous challenges, including low salaries, the pressure of starting a new job, and the difficulties of job searching. These challenges result in heightened levels of anxiety regarding unemployment.
According to a recent survey conducted by a local job bank, 93% of Gen Z individuals feel anxious about unemployment. Among them, 75.2% experience daily anxiety, while 17.7% experience it occasionally.
More importantly, the rate of unemployment anxiety has exceeded 90% for two consecutive years and has reached a five-year high.
The financial burden of unemployment is another significant source of anxiety for Gen Z. Fresh graduates who lack financial support from their families can typically sustain themselves for an average of 1.3 months using their savings. Alarmingly, 42.4% of them are unable to live independently.
Experts suggest that Gen Z's elevated expectations for themselves and their first job also contribute to their anxiety. The job market's reality is that many entry-level positions do not align with their aspirations.
Navigating job interviews, trial periods, and finding the right career path while considering financial support are all challenging steps for Gen Z entering the workforce.
