TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A recent U.S. Air Force promo video released by Moody Air Force Base has caused a stir amongst keen-eyed viewers for its unexpected inclusion of the national flag of the Republic of China (ROC, Taiwan).

The video features a female pilot in scenes reminiscent of the classic movie "Top Gun," with the Taiwan flag visible on the back of her jacket.

This nod to the Taiwan flag is a tribute to the "Flying Tigers" from World War II. The Flying Tigers were formed to defend China (then known as the ROC) against Japanese invasion.

To safeguard these American allies, the Taiwan (R.O.C.) flag blood chit was sewn onto the pilots' jackets. This ensured that in the event of ejection and subsequent landing in China, pilots could prove they were not enemies.

It's worth noting that the 23rd Wing in the U.S. Air Force is the only remaining frontline unit with the legendary Flying Tigers.
