TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Air Force's annual Tianlong Exercise kicked off on Monday (Nov. 7) at Hualien Air Force Base in eastern Taiwan. The 6-day-long exercise was delayed for a week due to a typhoon and heavy rainfall.
The Tianlong Exercise is the most important test of the Taiwan Air Force's annual combat skills, including aerial and ground drills, and live ammunition. The training is designed to be reflective of actual combat situations and to prepare soldiers for various types of threats.
On the same day, the Taiwan military spotted 63 PRC aircraft, and 31 crossed the Taiwan Strait median line and flew into Taiwan's Southwest Airspace, according to the Ministry of National Defense. The Air Force has driven PRC aircraft away more than 1,000 times this year, according to official tallies.
