TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Su Tseng-chang visted Taoyuan International Airport on Thursday (Oct. 13) to cheer airport staff on Taiwan's borders reopening after a 2-year hiatus in arrivals.
"The President is here to encourage and give moral support, I am here with the same sentiments," Premier Su said. "We came here together because we wanted to avoid a second hassle."
President Tsai also welcomed travelers to Taiwan after borders were closed for more than two years because of the pandemic. She warmly welcomed international visitors during her address, adding that "Taiwan is ready" to receive more guests.
"We also hope to achieve our pre-pandemic record of receiving 11.86 million international visitors in a year soon," Tsai added.
Many travelers from South Korea, Japan, and Thailand have already arrived in Taiwan to get their fill of the sights as the island waives its quarantine policy for arriving passengers.
