MOE’s dorm fee subsidy to help students combat inflation
The Ministry of Education (MOE) will offer subsidies to students living in public and private university dormitories starting in February next year. The subsidy program, supported by the Ministry of the Interior (MOI), will provide monthly subsidies ranging from NT$1200 to NT$1500. The estimated budget of NT$27.5 billion will benefit approximately 260,000 students. The subsidies will be available to all students, regardless of their financial background. Additionally, low or mid-low-income students will receive an additional subsidy that is 1.4 times the original amount. This initiative has been praised by Wang Han-yang, president of an MOI-based civil group, and student group EdYouth, as it will alleviate financial pressures and reduce the need for loans among economically stressed students.2023/11/08 18:56 -
