Taipei Water Department clarifies that Xishan Village’s water supply is not from its system but from untreated mountain spring water, which is suspected to have caused residents to experience vomiting and diarrhea due to high E. coli levels possibly related to the recent earthquake. The Taoyuan Airport MRT has reached a significant milestone, with the announcement that the 150 millionth passenger will receive a free yearlong TPass, valued at NT＄14,400. Since its launch over five months ago, the 1200 TPass has been widely used in the Greater Taipei Area and Taoyuan, with a record daily ridership of 106,000 passengers in November. The lucky 150 millionth rider and five accompanying passengers will enjoy unlimited travel in northern Taiwan. To accommodate the increasing number of passengers, Taoyuan Metro Co. has upgraded turnstile equipment and will introduce additional commuter and express trains. The Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory for Keelung City and New Taipei City due to the influence of the northeast monsoon. This year’s sixth typhoon, Typhoon Khanun, brought heavy winds and rain to Taiwan over the past week. The storm came closest to Taiwan late Thursday evening, resulting in a ＂typhoon day off＂ for the greater Taipei area and Yilan County. 

The sixth typhoon of the year, Typhoon Khanun, has caused massive waves and strong winds in both northern and southern coastal areas of Taiwan. The Greater Taipei Area has also been affected by the typhoon, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Following the cancellation of work and classes in Taipei, New Taipei City, Keelung, and Yilan County due to Typhoon Khanun, KTV chains in the Greater Taipei area experienced a surge in bookings on Wednesday (Aug. 3).
