TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A weather front will bring heavy rain and strong gusts to northern Taiwan and central mountain areas Wednesday morning (May 13), the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) said. Southern Taiwan will see more cloud cover, with rain mainly affecting regions north of central Taiwan.
The CWA warned travelers in Matsu to expect low visibility Wednesday morning and to monitor traffic updates. Taitung and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島) face risks of coastal swells. The agency advised residents to avoid the shoreline.
Brief showers or thunderstorms are expected across central and southern Taiwan Thursday and Friday (May 14-15), the CWA said. Other regions may see scattered short-term showers or thunderstorms. Mountainous areas may face significant afternoon rainfall.
The front will move away Saturday (May 16), bringing more stable weather and rising temperatures through Monday (May 18). Eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula will see localized short-term showers, while other areas may have partly cloudy to sunny skies. The Keelung north coast may see isolated short-term showers Saturday. ◼
