TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's three major science parks achieved a record-breaking revenue of NT$5.8 trillion in 2025, marking a 21.83% increase compared to the previous year. Southern Taiwan Science Park (南科) led the growth with a remarkable 34.26% increase, according to figures released at the science park's operational press conference.
Wu Cheng-wen (吳誠文), Minister of National Science and Technology Council (NSTC, 國家科學及技術委員會), emphasized the significance of the science parks, stating that they serve as "the main arteries of the national economy." The Hsinchu Science Park (竹科) and Central Taiwan Science Park (中科) also reported growth, with revenues rising by 12.25% and 9.29%, respectively.
The integrated circuit industry played a crucial role, achieving over NT$4.8 trillion in revenue, driven by high-performance computing and AI applications. The precision machinery industry benefited from AI demand, experiencing a 24.73% growth. Meanwhile, the optoelectronics industry saw a 3.23% increase due to U.S. tariff policies, boosting panel shipments.
The biotechnology industry grew by 11.73%, thanks to international market expansion and optimized new drug marketing strategies. However, the computer and peripherals industry faced a 14.55% decline due to business adjustments, although cloud server demand remained robust. Similarly, the communications industry saw a 13.57% drop, with low-orbit satellite production shifting to Southeast Asia, despite increased demand for communication components.
