TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A cold front from China grips Taiwan on Tuesday (March 10), dropping temperatures to 12-14 degrees Celsius (53.6-57.2°F) in northern and eastern regions with sporadic showers. Other areas experience temperatures of 15-17 degrees Celsius (59-62.6°F) as the cold air mass spreads across the island. Sporadic showers hit the north, east coast, Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), and central-southern mountainous regions throughout the day.
Meteorologists predict the cold air mass persists on Wednesday (March 11), keeping early morning temperatures low before a daytime warm-up. The weakening front creates significant temperature differences between day and night across the island. The east, southeast, and Hengchun Peninsula may experience brief rain showers. Another cold front arrives Thursday (March 12), dropping temperatures again in the north and northeast. The Keelung north coast, northeast, and eastern regions will likely see intermittent rain, while other areas enjoy partly cloudy to sunny skies.
The cold front and radiative cooling continue affecting Taiwan by Friday (March 13), resulting in cold mornings and evenings with wide temperature swings. Most regions experience clear to partly cloudy skies, but the Keelung north coast, eastern areas, and Hengchun Peninsula may see isolated showers. The cold front gradually weakens by Saturday (March 14), allowing daytime temperatures to rise while mornings and evenings remain chilly.
Cool temperatures persist in the mornings and evenings across Taiwan next Sunday and Monday (March 15-16), with central-southern regions facing substantial temperature variations between day and night. The Keelung north coast, eastern areas, greater Taipei mountainous region, and Hengchun Peninsula may encounter isolated showers throughout the period.
