TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) warned that a strengthening northeast monsoon will bring brief showers and cooler temperatures to northern and eastern Taiwan on Friday (March 6). Wu predicted a shift to damp, chilly weather, with the northeast monsoon expected to significantly impact the region.
Weather risk analyst Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) provided further insights on his Facebook page, noting that daytime temperatures in northern and northeastern areas will drop to 19 to 21 degrees Celsius, while central Taiwan could see highs of 24 to 26 degrees. Southern Taiwan may experience temperatures of 27 to 29 degrees. Wu highlighted the noticeable temperature disparity between the north and south, with nighttime lows in urban areas of northern and northeastern regions expected to fall to 15 to17 degrees.
The weekend will continue to feel the effects of the northeast monsoon, according to Wu Sheng-yu. He forecasted a reduction in moisture and a transition to drier conditions, with rain limited to windward areas such as the northern coast of Keelung and the Yilan to Hualien-Taitung corridor. Saturday (March 7)'s temperatures will be cooler, with highs in the northern and northeastern regions ranging from 17 to20 degrees.
Wu Der-rong anticipated that the weather will improve by next Wednesday (March 11) as dry air from the continental high-pressure system moves south. The rain will gradually cease in windward areas, and from next Thursday (March 12) to Saturday (March 14), Taiwan will enjoy stable, sunny weather with significant differences between day and night temperatures.
