TAIPEI (TVBS News) — New Taipei City Government has announced a collaboration with the popular culinary show "Super Taste" (食尚玩家) to launch a special program to try out Taiwanese Oil Rice (油飯) in the city. The initiative, unveiled on Wednesday (Feb. 11), aims to introduce viewers to the diverse flavors of oil rice across New Taipei City.
The program, set to air in two episodes, will feature prominent internet celebrity Jin Young Kim (韓勾ㄟ金針菇), renowned chef Wu Bing-cheng (吳秉承), and popular host Adrian Tseng (曾子余) as they visit various well-known oil rice eateries. From traditional to innovative flavors, the show promises to showcase the intricate preparation and versatile consumption of oil rice, emphasizing its significance beyond celebratory events to include its role on the Lunar New Year table.
During filming, New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) and celebrity Nadow Lin (納豆) made a surprise appearance to join the hosts in tasting oil rice and sharing festive culinary memories. Mayor Hou noted that during the New Year, he enjoys serving oil rice as the first dish, pairing it with blanched vegetables or chicken soup to enhance the meal's overall flavor.
The episodes will air on the fifth and sixth days of the Lunar New Year, Feb. 21 and Feb. 22, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Viewers are invited to explore New Taipei City and savor oil rice through this engaging program.
