TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei will illuminate the city with vibrant lights during the 2026 Taipei Lantern Festival, scheduled from Feb. 25 to March 15. The festival will take place around Ximending (西門町) and the Taipei Expo Park (花博公園). Twenty temples in Taipei will participate, offering activities like lantern displays and lighting ceremonies to bless visitors.

The Department of Information and Tourism (觀傳局) of Taipei City government announced that the Taiwan Provincial City God Temple (台灣省城隍廟) will create a stunning 300-meter lantern tunnel on Wuchang Street (武昌街), adorned with starry lights from Zhonghua Road (中華路) to Chongqing South Road (重慶南路) from Feb. 9 to March 31. Taipei Tianhou Temple (台北天后宮), celebrating its 280th anniversary, will showcase handcrafted lanterns and a special installation that blends traditional blessing culture with modern art.

The department encourages visitors to explore Longshan Temple (龍山寺) in Monga (艋舺) for peace lanterns and zodiac lanterns, while Songshan Ciyou Temple (慈祐宮) will feature horse-themed zodiac lanterns and a student lantern exhibition. Songshan Cihui Temple (慈惠堂) has invited master craftsmen to create traditional lanterns, and Ching Fu Temple (景福宮) will light up the Zhongshan (中山) commercial area for the first time.
