TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Legislator Lo Chih-chiang (羅智強) stirred public debate on Tuesday (Feb. 10) by alleging on Facebook that President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) is investigating Kao Chin Su-Mei (高金素梅). This claim has sparked widespread discussion across Taiwan, raising questions about potential political motivations behind the investigation.
Chen Pei-yu (陳培瑜), a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) legislator, questioned Lo's eagerness to defend Kao Chin. Chen accused Lo of framing the situation as political persecution. She highlighted several controversial statements made by Kao Chin, including her reference to "our Chairman Xi Jinping" during a general inquiry to the premier, which prompted Chen to question Kao Chin's political allegiance.
Chen emphasized the need for patience as the judicial investigation into Kao Chin's case proceeds. She underscored the importance of ensuring fairness and justice in the proceedings. Chen also expressed hope that if Kao Chin is found guilty of any wrongdoing, corrective actions will be taken promptly to uphold Taiwan's democracy.
