TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As the 2026 Tamsui Tian Yuen Temple (淡水天元宮) Cherry Blossom Festival enters its final countdown, the vibrant tricolored blossoms have begun to bloom under the warm sun, drawing crowds eager to capture the stunning scenery, according to a press release on Friday (Feb. 6). The festival, which has become one of northern Taiwan's most popular attractions, will conclude on Wednesday (Feb. 11), offering visitors a last chance to enjoy its unique activities.
The New Taipei City Landscape Office (新北市景觀處) has invited the public to participate in a puzzle-solving event, with limited hot spring vouchers available as prizes. This year's festival features an enchanting collaboration with internationally renowned artist Jimmy Liao (幾米), who has created illustrations for the Danhai Light Rail based on his picture book "Sometimes Sometimes" (閉上眼睛一下下), providing a dreamlike setting beneath the cherry blossoms.
Visitors can pick up the "Tamsui Flower Viewing Walk All in One" brochure at the Tian Yuen Temple venue service desk or the Tamsui Visitor Information Center (淡水旅遊服務中心) to enjoy exclusive discounts. The brochure includes a fun puzzle game that offers participants the chance to win limited-edition festival gifts upon successful completion. Additionally, festival-goers can enter a draw for hot spring vouchers by taking a photo with any of the five installations of "Sometimes Sometimes" or holding a sign at the Yunquan Village.
Lin Chun-te (林俊德), the head of the New Taipei City Landscape Office, announced that after the tricolored cherry blossoms at Tian Yuen Temple finish blooming, the Tamsui Huwei Cherry Blossom Avenue (淡水滬尾櫻花大道) hiking event will begin on Feb. 27. The Beitou Zixi Cherry Blossom Forest Eco-Trail (北投子溪櫻花林生態步道) is also expected to see its trees bloom in mid- to late-March.
