TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Actress Ann Hsu (許瑋甯) launched her new book at the Taipei International Book Exhibition on Friday (Feb. 6), presenting essays on self-discovery and personal growth. The book, "Stories Written into Time" (寫進時間的故事), debuted at the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE, 台北國際書展) where Hsu met fans at the World Trade Center Hall 1 in Taipei. Her essays explore solitude, courage, and longing through a decade of personal reflection.
Hsu's book transforms everyday experiences and character reflections into what she describes as a sanctuary for the soul, using essays as her medium. The actress emphasizes breaking free from being merely a shadow of others and finding one's authentic voice. Producer and actress Ruby Lin (林心如) described the book as "very quiet, yet very close," offering emotional companionship to readers. Director and screenwriter Mag Hsu (徐譽庭) praised Ann Hsu's writing for its lack of pretension, saying it allowed her to rediscover the actress's thoughts.
Mag Hsu likened the writing to the protagonist of "One Thousand and One Nights." Director Cheng Wei-hao (程偉豪) commended Ann Hsu's ability to capture the essence of cities, flavors, and family life in her writing. Cheng said her gentle words resonate like her own voice, embodying honesty and authenticity. He admired the actress's willingness to acknowledge her pessimism and tendency to imagine the worst while still striving to understand the world and herself. ◼
