TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail (台灣高鐵) has secured the 5th position in the 2026 Global 100 most sustainable corporations in the world, as announced in Davos during the World Economic Forum. According to a press release on Thursday (Jan. 22), this recognition highlights Taiwan High Speed Rail's dedication to sustainability, marking its fourth consecutive year in the top 10.
In the transportation and transit industry and transportation infrastructure industry categories, Taiwan High Speed Rail ranked 1st, showcasing its efforts in low-carbon initiatives, environmental protection, and industry localization. Chairman Shih Che (史哲) attributed this achievement to the collective efforts of all employees and the long-term support of numerous passengers.
The company plans to introduce the next-generation N700ST trains in August, aiming to enhance service quality. These trains, set to begin operations in the latter half of next year, feature lightweight construction, high performance, energy efficiency, and comfort, along with new passenger-friendly facilities.
The Global 100 most sustainable corporations ranking, conducted by Corporate Knights, evaluated the sustainability performance of over 8,000 large enterprises with revenues exceeding US$1 billion. Taiwan High Speed Rail, first listed in 2023, has consistently ranked among the world's top 10 sustainable companies, reflecting its ongoing commitment to sustainable development.
