TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Education's Youth Development Administration (教育部青年發展署) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China Airlines (中華航空) and EVA Air (長榮航空) on Tuesday (Jan. 20) to collaborate on the "Youth Overseas Dream Fund," a program designed to empower young people to pursue opportunities abroad. This initiative aims to provide NT$2 billion in funding this year to send over 2,500 youths overseas, including at least 300 economically disadvantaged participants.
Vice Minister of Education Liu Kuo-wei (劉國偉) highlighted that this program reflects President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) commitment to fostering youth development since taking office. Last year, the fund spent NT$1 billion to send nearly 1,500 young people abroad. Liu expressed gratitude to China Airlines and EVA Air for their support in helping Taiwanese youths realize their dreams.
China Airlines plans to offer exclusive discounts on its website for students and working holiday participants, enhancing the travel-planning process for program participants. China Airlines Taipei branch's General Manager Feng Chen-yu (馮震宇) emphasized the airline's dedication to education and cultural heritage, expressing pride in facilitating seamless travel experiences for aspiring young travelers.
EVA Air will provide tailored flight information, ticket discounts, and baggage services based on operational conditions. EVA Air's Passenger Business Division Executive Vice President, Wang Chen-hsing (王振興), noted the airline's long-standing role in supporting youth studying or working abroad, aiming to leverage its extensive international network and five-star service to help young people explore the world.
