TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taichung City Transportation Bureau (台中市交通局) launched a collaboration with the Peanuts franchise on Monday (Jan. 19), unveiling 3-meter-tall (around 10-foot-tall) Snoopy and Olaf inflatables at Taichung Civic Square (市政公園). The exhibition, running through Sunday (Feb. 22), marks the first large-scale integration of international character intellectual property into the central Taiwan city's traffic systems. The initiative will introduce Snoopy-themed pedestrian signals, bus shelters, and vehicle graphics across the city starting in the first quarter of 2026.
Transportation Bureau Director-General Yeh Chao-fu (葉昭甫) announced that Taichung will introduce Snoopy-themed pedestrian signals at the intersection of Taiwan Boulevard (台灣大道) and Wenxin Road (文心路口). The signals will incorporate the character's iconic stance, with the phased rollout beginning in the first quarter of 2026. Yeh said the initiative marks the first large-scale adoption of international character intellectual property in the city's traffic systems, aiming to enhance urban appeal and traffic safety awareness.
The bureau plans to debut Snoopy-themed bus shelters and vehicle graphics along major routes, including Taiwan Boulevard, starting in 2026 to enhance the commuting experience. Select routes will feature segmented Snoopy comics at bus stops, allowing passengers who complete the entire route to enjoy a full story. The initiative aims to promote traffic safety awareness while adding a playful element to Taichung's public transportation network. ◼
