TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Kaohsiung City Government (高雄市政府) announced on Friday (Jan. 16) the launch of the "2026 Kaohsiung Wonderland" event, set to take place from Feb. 7 to March 1 at Love River Bay and the Port of Kaohsiung's Piers 16 to 18. The event will feature the "Ultraman" theme to honor the city's unsung heroes.
Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) emphasized the theme "Arrival of Heroes in the Harbor City," highlighting the imagery of justice and protection embodied by "Ultraman." He aims to pay tribute to Taiwan's everyday heroes who quietly contribute to safeguarding citizens' lives. He stated that these 'urban heroes' include the "shovel superheroes" clearing disaster zones, medical staff in hospitals, firefighters moving against the tide, resilient athletes, and sanitation workers maintaining city cleanliness.
During the event, Love River Bay will transform into a winter "Ultraman Festival," combining harbor views, themed installations, nighttime lights, and interactive performances. This celebration will allow citizens and tourists to experience the charm of the harbor city and convey the strength of protecting Taiwan.
Kaohsiung's Department of Tourism (高雄市政府觀光局) Chief Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) remarked that "Ultraman," produced by Tsuburaya Productions (日本圓谷株式會社), stands as a quintessential hero series in Japanese special effects photography. Since its debut in 1966, it has become a cross-generational cultural symbol, deeply rooted in the image of courage, justice, and earth protection.
