TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) announced on Wednesday (Jan. 1) the results of the Chiayi County primary, revealing a decisive victory for legislator Tsai Yi-yu (蔡易餘) over Chiayi County Councilor Huang Rong-li (黃榮利) by more than 26 percentage points. Tsai expressed gratitude to supporters across Chiayi's 18 townships and vowed to unite local forces in the upcoming year-end election.

Tsai plans to rally under the banner of the "United Chiayi Team" and collaborate with township representatives, grassroots supporters, and constituents to secure a win in the county magistrate race. Meanwhile, Huang accepted the results, maintaining his unwavering dedication to Chiayi and expressing appreciation for his supporters' companionship and backing.

Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) congratulated Tsai upon hearing the primary results, highlighting Chiayi's ongoing transformation into a "major county for agricultural, industrial, and technological development." Weng anticipates increased investment and solutions to challenges arising from this transition.

Weng emphasized the DPP's primary system, which offers candidates a platform to present their visions for Chiayi's future. He noted that the primary's conclusion marks the beginning of unity, urging collective efforts toward Chiayi's "golden decade."
