TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部) announced on Tuesday (Jan. 13) that Minister Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫) will lead a cross-ministerial delegation to Washington, D.C., for the U.S.-Taiwan Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue (EPPD). The meeting, scheduled for Jan. 26, aims to revisit previously discussed topics between the two nations.
The sixth EPPD conference will last two days, with Kung serving as the chief negotiator. The delegation will include senior officials from Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, 外交部). Jacob Helberg, the U.S. undersecretary for economic affairs, will represent the American side.
Established during former President Donald Trump's administration, the EPPD serves as a bilateral economic dialogue mechanism between Taiwan and the U.S. In 2024, both parties renewed the "Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue Memorandum of Understanding," extending it for another five years. While media reports suggest the upcoming EPPD may focus on supply chain security, including advanced robotics and AI supply chain collaboration, the MOEA has declined to provide further details.
