TAIPEI (TVBS News) — LINE Bank became Taiwan's first profitable digital-only bank on Monday (Jan. 12), reporting a pre-tax net profit exceeding NT$11 million (around US$333,000) in December. General Manager Huang I-meng (黃以孟) stated the bank achieved profitability earlier than its anticipated five-year timeline. The milestone marks LINE Bank's first-ever profitable month since its launch, establishing a new benchmark for Taiwan's digital banking sector.
LINE Bank hosted its 2026 growth outlook briefing on Monday (Jan. 12), announcing plans to sustain profitability quarterly, semi-annually, and annually throughout 2026. The bank rapidly accumulated over one million customers since launch, with net revenue growth exceeding 70% in 2025. LINE Bank set new records for 10 consecutive months, achieving an annual compound growth rate of 75%, according to company executives.
General Manager Huang I-meng highlighted that the bank's customer base has reached 2.2 million. LINE Bank now ranks among Taiwan's top ten banks for interbank transfers and has the second-fastest growth rate in credit balance in the market. Chairman Huang Ren-jun (黃仁埈) said the bank has entered a phase of stable profitability and independent operations, overcoming the initial challenges of operating as a digital-only bank in Taiwan.
LINE Bank plans to introduce new services to establish itself as a resilient digital mobile bank. The bank outlined eight strategic initiatives, including optimizing AI applications and expanding asset scale, to strengthen its market position.
