TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's weather pattern shifts over the coming days, bringing a mix of sunshine and showers across the island. WeatherRisk Explore Inc. (天氣風險) reported on Facebook Friday (Dec. 5) that a weakening continental high-pressure system will transition the northeast wind to an easterly one Saturday. The shift will result in cloudy skies with occasional showers in the northern coast, northeastern corner, and eastern regions.
Greater Taipei is expected to experience partly cloudy to clear skies Saturday (Dec. 6), while the western half of Taiwan will remain sunny to partly cloudy. The high-pressure system will return Sunday (Dec. 7), maintaining an easterly wind and improving weather conditions in the northeast and east, though brief showers may occur. WeatherRisk forecasts gradual temperature improvements across the island.
Temperatures will gradually rise, reaching highs of 23-27 degrees Celsius (73.4-80.6°F) in the north and 25-29 degrees Celsius (77-84.2°F) in central and southern regions during daylight hours. Radiative cooling will cause significant temperature differences between day and night, with northern regions experiencing lows of 16-19 degrees Celsius (60.8-66.2°F) overnight. Other areas will drop to 14-16 degrees Celsius (57.2-60.8°F) during nighttime hours.
The northeast monsoon is expected to strengthen Monday (Dec. 8), bringing cloudy skies and rain to northern and eastern areas while temperatures drop. Hsinchu and its southward areas may see partly cloudy to clear skies with a slight temperature decrease on that day. Tuesday (Dec. 9), as the high-pressure system weakens offshore, easterly winds will bring cloudy skies and showers to central, northern, and eastern regions.
