TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Shin Kong Life Insurance (新光人壽) officially canceled land rights for plots T17 and T18 in Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (北投士林科技園區) Monday (Nov. 24), clearing the path for Nvidia's Taiwan headquarters development. Deputy Mayor Lee Shu-chuan (李四川) announced the significant termination and stated the major Nvidia project is now likely to proceed as planned. Taipei City Government and Shin Kong Life Insurance finalized the comprehensive termination agreement Thursday (Nov. 21) after extensive negotiations between both parties.
Deputy Mayor Lee revealed the significant land rights cancellation during an interview with Taiwanese news outlet Z.Media (震傳媒). The major development shifts focus back to crucial negotiations between Taipei City Government and Nvidia for the headquarters project. Shin Kong Life Insurance's board approved the termination agreement Thursday (Nov. 21), requiring the city government to cover all previously incurred costs.
Thomas Wu (吳東亮), chairman of TS Financial Holdings (台新新光金控), expressed significant satisfaction with the successful resolution of the T17 and T18 land rights issue. Wu shared his gratitude to the city government and market for their strong support during a tea party celebrating the merger of Taishin Securities Investment Trust (台新投信) and Shin Kong Investment Trust (新光投信). The chairman's positive comments came as the complex land rights dispute reached its final conclusion.
Wu emphasized the significant and substantial efforts made by Shin Kong Life Insurance's dedicated team to ensure Nvidia remains in Taiwan. He urged the public to recognize and appreciate the dedication of Shin Kong's directors, supervisors, employees, and Chairman Wei Pao-sheng (魏寶生). Wu expressed strong hope that Taipei City's ongoing negotiations with NVIDIA will conclude successfully, accelerating NVIDIA's major expansion in Taiwan.
