TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Cold air mass weakening across Taiwan has triggered temperature rises in northern regions, meteorologist Wu Der-romg (吳德榮) reported Friday (Nov. 21). Temperatures in northern Taiwan now range between 17 and 24 degrees Celsius (62.6-75.2°F), while southern areas recorded the island's lowest readings. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署), Taiwan's national weather agency, confirmed Kaohsiung City's Neimen District hit 15.2 degrees Celsius (59.4°F).
Scattered showers will continue along Taiwan's north coast and northeastern regions through Saturday, according to Wu's forecast published by National Central University (NCU, 國立中央大學). The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model supports this prediction. Temperature forecasts show northern areas at 17-24 degrees Celsius (62.6-75.2°F), central regions at 16-27°C (60.8-80.6°F), and southern areas reaching 15-28°C (59-82.4°F).
Temperatures will rise across Taiwan on Sunday and Monday (Nov. 23-24) with mostly sunny conditions prevailing, Wu predicts. Only eastern regions face isolated shower risks. A dry northeast monsoon arriving Tuesday afternoon will bring cooler mornings and evenings with clear skies. Wu dismissed concerns about a potential tropical disturbance forming in the South China Sea next week, stating it poses "no threat to Taiwan due to its distance." ◼
