TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台積電) senior executive Lo Wei-jen (羅唯仁) faces allegations of stealing 2-nanometer technology trade secrets, media reported on Tuesday (Nov. 18). The former senior vice president of technology R&D allegedly photocopied confidential documents before retiring in July.
Economic Affairs Minister Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫) said earlier that day the ministry dispatched personnel to investigate but emphasized TSMC should address the issue publicly. Industry sources indicate Lo returned to Intel in October 2025, raising concerns about technology transfer to rival companies. The case follows September allegations against three other TSMC employees attempting to access 2-nanometer chip secrets.
Lo allegedly leveraged executive authority to obtain briefings from subordinates before July 2025 retirement. He reportedly photocopied proprietary information including 2-nanometer, A16, and A14 nanometer manufacturing process details during these sessions. TSMC is gathering evidence and planning legal action against the former executive. ◼
