TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan will distribute its National Public Safety Guide (台灣全民安全指引) to households nationwide starting Thursday (Nov. 19). National Security Council , Taiwan's top security body, Deputy Secretary-General Lin Fei-fan (林飛帆) announced Monday (Nov. 17) the initiative aims for completion by Jan. 5.
Lin stated the first print run includes 11 million copies, with 9.8 million destined for households nationwide. The guide will be primarily in Chinese with an English version for foreign residents distributed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA, 外交部) , Taiwan's foreign ministry.
Lin explained the guide describes citizen defense participation, mutual protection, and disaster response training access. He noted similar initiatives exist in Sweden and Finland, with Czech Republic and France planning comparable projects. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said in September the guide aims to address misinformation concerns. ◼
