TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan and India held the 13th joint science and technology cooperation review Monday (Nov. 17). National Science and Technology Council (NSTC, 國科會) , Taiwan's science ministry, Deputy Minister Chen Bing-yu (陳炳宇) co-chaired the meeting with Indian Department of Science and Technology Secretary Abhay Karandikar.
Taiwan's Ambassador to India Mumin Chen (陳牧民) and India-Taipei Association Acting Chairperson Vishwanjali Murlidhar Gaikwad delivered speeches. The council noted significant increases in bilateral project applications and announced plans for an artificial intelligence symposium in Taiwan next year.
Chen Bing-yu described India as a crucial technology and economic trade partner for Taiwan. He emphasized both sides share strong consensus on emerging technologies, hoping to enhance Taiwan's international visibility through collaboration. Taiwan and India have co-funded nearly 150 research projects and 30 seminars since signing their 2007 memorandum.
Taiwan and India held a quantum seminar in India in September, covering quantum materials, sensing, communication, and computing. Delegates visited Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC, 台積電) Museum of Innovation and Taiwan Space Agency (TASA, 國家太空中心), strengthening talent exchange. ◼
