HSINCHU, Taiwan (TVBS News) — NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) attended TSMC's sports day Saturday (Nov. 8) for the first time as founder Morris Chang (張忠謀) missed the event due to illness. The unprecedented client participation marked a historic moment for the chipmaker's annual employee gathering.
Huang arrived at Hsinchu County Stadium (新竹縣立體育場) at 8:10 a.m. with TSMC Chairman CC Wei (魏哲家). The NVIDIA executive told reporters "NVIDIA and TSMC are family, growing together." The annual gathering featured the theme "Unity, Vitality and Innovation," drawing employees from Taiwan's leading chipmaker.
Wei announced Chang's absence during opening remarks, citing health discomfort. The chairman led employees in chanting "Chairman, I love you! Sophie, I love you!" referring to Chang and his wife. The display demonstrated company unity despite the founder's absence from the Saturday gathering.
Hundreds of TSMC employees from Shanghai (上海), Nanjing (南京), Japan, North America and Europe returned to Taiwan for the sports day. The international participation demonstrated the semiconductor giant's global workforce unity. The gathering showcased TSMC's inclusive corporate culture across worldwide operations.
The visit marks Huang's fourth trip to Taiwan this year, highlighting the strategic semiconductor partnership. The NVIDIA CEO is scheduled to remain in Taiwan for one and a half days. The frequency of visits underscores the companies' deepening business relationship.
The sports day incorporated sustainability initiatives including recyclable venue materials and electric vehicle transportation. TSMC's foundation showcased environmental projects to attendees.
