TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) Chair Cheng Li-wen (鄭麗文) pledged to secure a Legislative Yuan (立法院), Taiwan's parliament, majority by 2028 Monday (Oct. 20). Cheng, elected Oct. 18, told the party's caucus the KMT will become Taiwan's largest party and control the legislature.
Cheng praised caucus members for facing the most challenging year in Legislative Yuan history, saying each member "stood ready at every moment" with outstanding fighting spirit. She highlighted the KMT's future legislative role, aiming to assist Taiwanese voters and prevent the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) , Taiwan's ruling party, from disrupting unity in Taiwan.
Cheng pledged party support for workers, farmers, and businesses, vowing the Kuomintang will be the people's strongest support. She promised party headquarters would back the caucus, ensuring strong connections between the legislature and local governments. Cheng emphasized winning 2026 elections, naming legislators Hsieh Lung-chieh (謝龍介), Su Ching-chuan (蘇清泉), and Ko Chih-en (柯志恩), declaring victory goals across Taiwan. ◼
