TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) promoted the comprehensive T-Dome defense system Monday (Oct. 13), comparing it to baseball field protection. Party spokespersons Jutsin Wu (吳崢) and Su Tzu-yun (蘇紫雲) discussed the air defense initiative on DPP's dedicated "Fresh News LIVE" (午青LIVE) program. Su described the T-Dome as capable of defending against threats from all angles, whether high-flying or ground-level attacks.
Su emphasized that comprehensive air defense construction could significantly reduce China's, the People's Republic of China's, military actions while substantially boosting public confidence in Taiwan's security. He criticized the Chinese Communist Party (CCP, 中國共產黨) for deliberately misrepresenting Taiwan's defensive efforts as provocations against regional stability. The spokesman stressed that Taiwan's defense initiatives constitute entirely legitimate self-protection measures, not aggressive actions threatening neighboring countries or regional peace.
Su noted that increased defense budget proposals could stimulate Taiwan's defense industry, citing 1.8 times economic returns on defense investments in Western countries and Japan. The Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (台北國際航太暨國防工業展) attracted over 400 companies from 15 countries, demonstrating global collaboration interest. Su urged public support for defense investments, emphasizing they enhance both self-defense capabilities and economic growth while preserving Taiwan's democratic way of life. ◼
